In Brief

The approach used is best summarised as: an individual programme designed to achieve age appropriate spoken language development, self esteem and social inclusion, which is implemented by a child’s family who I guide, coach and support as required.

Key factors of the approach used are:

• Parents are central
• Early intervention – identification, education and technology
• Evidence based practice – objectivity
• Ongoing diagnosis and prognosis - of audition, speech, language, cognition and self-esteem

These factors are also the key principles of Auditory-Verbal Practice, an approach that has influenced my work for many years.
